The presentation concerns the role of the German language in past and present Hungary. We will examine the significance and prevalence of German language use in Hungary during the Monarchy, including its impact on the Hungarian language. We will also touch upon the changes in Germanic studies education in recent decades, and the current status and future prospects of the German language in Hungary.
