The higher education admissions procedure for undergraduate and higher education vocational training courses operates on a uniform 500-point system fixed by law. Higher education institutions can make separate decisions on several components of this. Therefore, when compiling an application, it is important for the applicant to always familiarise themselves with the detailed regulations pertaining to the specific course at the specific institution.
The scope of results participating in the admission score calculation depends on the institutional decision: which matriculation examination subjects are compulsory for a given course, which ones are suitable for score calculation, and whether a higher-level matriculation examination result is required and from which subject.
Institutional regulations also determine the fate of 100 out of 500 points. There are achievements that typically earn institutional points in most departments of every institution: foreign language proficiency, advanced-level matriculation exam, certified disadvantaged status, sporting achievement. However, their point value may differ: what is worth 40 points for a specific department at one institution may be worth only 20 elsewhere, or not worth any points at all.
The Pannon University's institutional point system is also extensive and can be found in detail on our admissions website. In general, we award institutional points for achievements that exceed basic requirements, such as foreign language proficiency; sporting achievements; advanced secondary school exams (regardless of whether the result contributes to the overall score); previous relevant work experience; competition results. We have our own further education programmes (secondary school exam preparation courses; thematic camps; talent support programmes); but we also value participation in national programmes (MCC, TUDOK, ITIT).
We recommend that when preparing your application, and when selecting a further education location, you inform yourself about the options available. With reliable information, you can make a decision about which of these options is most suitable for you. This way, you won't get lost in a sea of possibilities and will maximise your admission score with a conscious strategy.
