Nothing was left at the crime scene but a few bloodstains. Based on CCTV footage and eyewitness testimonies, several people have become suspects. Which one of them is the culprit? We will find out in this lab practical: using samples collected by forensic investigators, we will amplify unique DNA profiles with polymerase chain reaction (PCR), and then analyse them using gel electrophoresis. At the same time, we will also try out some of the new tasks from the biology matriculation exam in practice.
