So-called electrorheological (ER) and magnetorheological (MR) materials are special types of fluids that can change their properties under the influence of an external electric or magnetic field. These fluids have found countless applications in the field of modern engineering today. For example, they are used in a controllable manner in vehicle shock absorbers, for damping washing machine vibrations, for reducing stepping motor backlash, for torque transfer in brakes and clutches, or even in the field of medicine. In the lecture, we will present the possibilities inherent in intelligent fluids, as well as demonstration experiments developed to illustrate their properties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
